90 Points (Wine & Spirits) and 90 Points (Wine Advocate)  The scent of this wine may be timid, but it opens dramatically in the mouth, deploying flavors from chocolate to candied nuts. Tremendous in its structure, this brings to mind an Indian elephant with its profusion of decorations– here incarnated as a range of spice notes from cinnamon to mint – and ultimately delivers a pleasant freshness.  (Alc. 14%)

Bierzo is located in northwest Spain, near the northeast corner of Portugal.  The local legend is that Mencia, the indigenous varietal from Bierzo, was Cabernet Franc about 700 years ago.  Grapes are hand selected from the estate vineyard.  Aged in French and American oak barrels for 5 months.  The wine is rich and lush with blackberry jam and vanilla aromas, refined blackberry flavor and a long silky smooth finish.  (Alc. 13.5%)

91 Points (Wine Enthusiast)

90% Tempranillo, 10% Garnacha. Clean and elegant aromas. The notes of very ripe black fruit stand out along with hints of liqueur, milky notes and good toasted aromas. When it opens up off a wide range of aromatic notes round out the wine. Coffee, snuff, spices (vanilla, cinnamon) and toffee, among others, are perceived on an elegant mineral background. Ripe and well integrated tannins. Long and lingering aftertaste.

Made exclusively from Sangiovese grapes grown on the slopes around Montalcino. The word Brunello translates roughly as “little dark one,” and is the local vernacular name for Sangiovese Grosso, the large-berried form of Sangiovese which grows in the area. This is an amazing Brunello at a great value. (Alc. 14%)

Black currant flavors are present, along with stalky tannins. There is a smoky, wood element that comes through strongly at the end. Wine Enthusiast 89

The soil is clay and limestone, providing colorful wine with softness and flavor.  The wine is unoaked, and has fresh red fruit aromas with a dense and round palate. This wine can be enjoyed now, or age in your cellar, and will be perfect with starters and white meats.
